Multiple community groups and initiatives have taken place in and around the magnificent Union Church. Its location, adjacent to the town center and our historical cemetery, makes this building essential to the Tyringham community.

The grand space of the church sanctuary provides seating for 200, and an inspiring setting for concerts and lectures. The social hall downstairs has other practical virtues for cultural events – open space for rehearsals and dressing, easily darkened setting for powerpoint presentations, necessary restrooms and a dated but useful kitchen.

Even the porch has been the setting for an unforgettable performance. Theatrical producer and Tyringham resident, Ann Gallo writes, “Back in 2017, I produced a site-specific production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town on the front portico of the church. It was an outdoor event with cast and audience gathered in front of the beautiful façade and portico. The Union Church was an inspiration for this community-based theatrical production. Staging the production on the church’s front porch, with the impressive columns as a frame, added a new element to a play we’ve only seen in a black box theater.”
